Get to Know Dr. Charles Carter
Dr. Charles J. Carter has been practicing dentistry in the Athens area for over 42 years. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee-Memphis in September of 1970, and prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University, where he majored in Chemistry and English.
Dr. Carter continues his education every year with at least 20 hours of additional training, the majority of which has an emphasis on dental implant treatment and prosthetics. He has advanced training in CEREC same-day crown technology, which allows him to make dental crowns and dental veneers in-house for better control over their aesthetics and function. Dr. Carter is part of the American Dental Association® and the Academy of General Dentistry.
His goal as a dentist is to provide the best care possible in a warm, friendly and safe environment, with an emphasis on quality work that will last a long time.
He has been married to his wife, Marty Carter, for the last 50 years, and together they have two adult daughters, three granddaughters and one 6-year-old Labradoodle, Bella. His hobbies include organic gardening, taking care of his blueberry orchard, fishing, painting and reading.
Dr. Carter is also a member of the First Methodist Church and served as a dentist in the United States Army prior to April 1976.
